Camping Advice and Tips

Saturday November 25, 2006
Keeping Warm - During the wet and cold season be sure to keep your feet dry and your head covered. If your feet get wet, change your socks (and possibly your shoes too). Wear layers of clothes and use adequate rain gear when appropriate. Use a sleeping bag that is rated below any expected temperatures and use a good sleeping pad to insulate you from the cold ground. Also, make sure your camp stove is working properly and bring lots of hot chocolate. Try this formula for beating the winter cold: a cozy campfire and a cup of old-fashioned hot chocolate. This is a recipe that you make at home and then reheat at the campground. The temperatures may be dropping, but that's no reason not to go camping.
