RotoGlo - Self-Powered Flashlight

Wednesday November 29, 2006
Holiday Gift Idea - The RotoGlo is a great little flashlight that belongs on every camper's checklist. My father-in-law gave me one of these for Christmas. I immediately thought how great this would be for camping. It's about the size of a cell phone, it's lightweight, and it requires no batteries. A few turns of the crank provides all the energy needed to light either 1 or 3 LEDs. An ideal emergency flashlight for backpackers, boaters, or campers. It also fits conveniently in a drawer, glove box, or tool box.

Wait a few months and it will turn to a useless gear, in another word the battery inside it does not hold charge, I had 2 of them that went dead after 7 months.

[Editor's note: I don't doubt what you say, but I have two also. They are going on two years old and still work fine.]

A few years back I received this incredible item, put it in my glove box and forgot all about it. Last week, at night (of course) the power went out and was out for about 12 hours. I remembered the RotoGlo, retrieved it and was amazed to learn the light worked as soon as I turned it on. I cranked it a few more times to increase the glow. I are one happy customer … but am having difficulty finding out where to buy more for gifts.

[Editor’s note:There are numerous makes and models now available. Check them out and compare prices on Pricegrabber.
