Tent placement - As a general rule, pick a high level spot to pitch your tent. You'll sleep better, and should it rain during the night water will drain away from your tent. Erect your tent far enough from any grill or campfire so that sparks won't fly into it. Never set your tent up on low ground. Aim your tent door away from the direction of the morning sun. That way you won't wake up and exit your tent into the bright sun.

David, First, LOVE your sites and information!! Visit them often! I am from the Northeast -winter has had me visiting and drooling over camping information, sites and gear! SPring is coming, slowly but surely, daylight is longer and stronger, my body can sense it! I want to sahre some things with you -first stressing/explaining SAFETY issues is a GREAT MISSION! Many are giving up long distance, overseas traveling these days and going back to basics local not too far simple, family oriented camping excursions -cheaper and hopefully easier and sometimes safer than trips abroad. TENTS QUALITY equipment at reasonable affordable prices are vital to the endurance of Camping as a positive family recreation experience! The Northeast has been bombarded with Torrential rains and winds over the last several years and many campgrounds have suffered because of it. I have given feedback to a few tent Distributors like Wenzel about their tents Hope they take it to heart! Many designs are NICE looking but HARD to put up/take down, difficult for one person to do the same and many LEAK in spite of frequent waterproofing!! BAD for CAMPING IMAGE!!! If Young or first time campers or families that haven’t camped in a while get bad leaking experiences, frustrated camping trips they may NOT come back to the activity, place thereby hurting the industry and thr recreational encouragement activity. We can’t control the weather but we can give Camping equipment providers our feedback! Many hope for getting More people outside to learn from, enjoy, respect and protect our precious outdoors -camping is a great way to do this!! AND don’t forget or returning war veterans, and our disabled veterans and our disabled people too the outdoors has magic for healing wounds both physical and mental! Other points include SAFETY/Well being at campgrounds -we must NOT forget this factor also -working communications networks are vital for weather watches, also for suspicious activities there are potentials for transportation of Mssing persons and children and adults through remote campgrounds/places – alerts, entry bullentin boards/information postings on Missing persons children and adults can only help spread the word- this is critically needed! Human/Child trafficking is, alarmingly, a growing problem right here in the U.S. too…every little bit helps to make a difference. I have more thoughts to share from Friends, fellow outdoor enthusiasts and nature lovers Will be back soon,
Please keep the articles, informative videos etc coming!
