Have you ever taken an infant camping?
Thursday April 19, 2007
Kids are never too young to introduce to the great outdoors. If you're concerned about taking the young ones camping, consider the advice of fellow campers and parents who take their kids camping.
- MKringen says, "We took our youngest when he was 4 months. We just made a little bedroll next to our bed for him. The next season he was mobile so we brought the pak-n-play, and he slept in that. We would even bring it out and set it by the table so he could be part of the action, but not get in trouble. Since we tent camp 2-3 times a year, he is an old pro at 8 years old."
- JRPShaw adds, "We just took our 3 month old camping. I found that camping enabled my infant and myself to go on trips with my DH and 4 yr. old son. We enjoyed sitting by the river while he nursed. We also found that he slept better when we camped. I think camping with an infant is an excellent idea!"

we took our chilcren as young as two months. my chidren now grown, some with kids of rtheir own, have taken thier kids at a early age also. we enjoy taking the grandkids also. they grew up with tents and they look forward to it as much as we do.he ,grandson, can toast a mean marshmellow.
We took all of our four children camping from day one. I was so grateful my Mom encouraged us to go. Even today as they are all grown, and with our Grandson, we always go as a family twice a year. It’ s wonderful experienceto be ourselves.
We waited until our little guy was 12 months old before our first camping trip. Since he was walking and almost running, it was quite an adventure keeping up with him and all the new things he had to explore. A pack-n-play works great for napping and sleeping and to keep him in one place while we get the tent up. We are getting ready to go camping again this weekend (he’s 15 months now) and can’t wait to show him some place new.
When I was very, very pregnant (two weeks from due date) with my third child I begged my husband to take me camping. He refused saying he didn’t want me to go into labor in the wilderness…..Once baby #3 was born I waited a long 3 weeks to get out into the forest. It was the best thing to help with the new baby and two other bored kids. That baby is now 19 years old and loves to go camping as much as she can. Keep on camping no matter the circumstances is my mantra, and one that I will always try to live by.
