Should you stake your tent?

Tuesday June 5, 2007
Yes. Stake your tent to keep it from sliding around and possibly causing rips and tears in the floor. Stakes also hold the tent down so that wind doesn't get beneath it and blow it across the campground. Tents are not meant to be sleds sliding down a hill nor kites flying in the wind. That's why they come with stake loops. Use them.

What kind of stake should you use?

If you have other tent questions, check out the tent FAQ.

We have 3 types of tent stakes we take along because we never know what the ground may be like when we get there.Sometimes it has been very hard and other times it been so soft that regular stakes would not stay in the ground.
