Tent FAQ

Tuesday June 19, 2007
Pitching your tent - Here are a few things to consider.
  • Locate your tent on high, level ground. If it rains, water will tend to flow away from your tent rather than gather under it, and you'll not be rolling downhill.
  • Use a ground cloth. If it does rain, water flowing down your tent will flow beneath the ground cloth rather than gathering under your tent. A ground cloth also adds extra protection to your tent floor from rocks and abrasions.
  • Stake your tent. If you stake your tent, movement inside won't cause it to slide around on the ground, and wind won't pick it up and blow it around.
  • Locate your tent away from any fires. Sparks from a campfire or grill can quickly ruin a good tent. Pitch your tent at least 20 feet away from all fires.
