Camping Recipes - What's New

Monday July 9, 2007
Try these fruity pancakes to start your day:
  • Peach and Orange Danish Pancakes - a recipe from Stuart. "This recipe is great for backpackers as it can be mostly pre-made at home and packed in a Ziploc bag. The bag can be used to mix the batter by kneading in the wet ingredients. With some practice, the bag can be cut at the corner and used to pour the batter into the fry pan. This is a good breakfast pancake because the raisins and diced peaches retain heat and keep the pancake warm even when eaten in cooler weather by a campfire. Any fruit dried or otherwise can be added, adding to the nutrition needed when camping or hiking."
Make this simple but hearty stew after a day of activity:
  • Campfire Stew - a recipe from Larry Wallace. "My mother cooked this recipe for my family when we camped at the river each summer. Now my wife and I fix it for our six children when we camp, and they love it as much as we did."
Top off the day with a yummy dessert:More camping recipes
