Pie Iron Recipes - Campers have been using cast-iron to cook over a campfire since pioneer days. Today campers make hobo pies and grilled sandwiches in pie irons that are inserted right into the campfire. These versatile campfire tools can bake, fry, grill and saute. Richard O'Russa's cookbook has plenty of ideas for cooking with pie irons. Check out this sample recipe:

Marinated Pork Chops - "Trim pork chop to fit into pie iron cavity. Marinate for about 1 hour in your cooler. Place marinated pork chop into cooker and pour in some of the marinade. Close, latch handles, and grill over campfire for 5 minutes on each side, or until pork chop is cooked. This makes a great pork chop sandwich."

Rome Pie Irons and Richard's recipe book can be found in sporting goods stores everywhere.
