The Best and Worst Campground Reviews of 2007
Monday December 31, 2007
Hundreds of campers sent in campground reviews again this year, and I enjoyed reading all of them. A new form was added this year allowing you to submit photos to accompany your reviews. Several of you sent in photos, which can be seen in the Camping Community Gallery. Based on the most verbose submissions, here are this year's most outspoken campground reviews.
Reviews
- Umbagog Lake State Park - Cambridge, New Hampshire. Greg tent camped there in June 2006. "This lake is expansive and is bigger than it appears on the maps. Between the campground beach and out to the Big Island the water can get very choppy with strong currents that make it extremely difficult to navigate. Once past Big Island though, the water calms way down and the experience is quite idyllic. When it's time to go, you'll miss the loons singing you to sleep each night."
Read Greg's full review - Sampson State Park - Romulus, New York. Danielle tent camped there in July 2007. "Sampson is easily accessible from I-90 and about a half-hour drive from the offramp to Waterloo. There are several other campgrounds in the immediate area, and Sampson seems to be a well-kept secret. While usually full on the weekend, the campground retains its charm. It is also well-patrolled by the state park police."

There are some truly great and interesting people working there, and all are willing to share their stories if you just ask. The fellow campers we met were equally fascinating. We will definitely be camping here again."

Review
- Fort Niangua River Resort - Lebanon, Missouri. Jeff tent camped there in July 2007. "My wife and I gave Fort Niangua River Resort a chance, but we will never return. If you plan to catch trout at Bennett Spring State Park and canoe the Niangua River, find someplace else to lay your head at night."

worst campground, As a class A RVer, I will never reconmend an Ohio State Park campground. This one Cowan state park near Cinn. I will bad mouth this site to everone.
I will agree, never will I rec Mosquito lake state park. Cold showers outdoor pits for the bathrooms, and the staff, well let me tell you it is a peyton place. Carole will take a site off if she doesn’t like you. Just last week a disabled vet was told he couldn’t have his site any longer while another vet has been on a site since April. Sneaky staff, be careful at this park.
