What is your favorite way to cook at the campground?

Doesn't food taste better at the campground? It doesn't matter how you cook it. It just seems to taste good eating outdoors. I like to cook almost as much as I like to eat. I've tried lots of methods to prepare food at the campground, but probably my favorite way to cook outdoors is on a Weber Baby Q portable propane grill. I like the versatility, quick starting and heat control that propane gas grills offer. Take the poll. What is your favorite way to cook at the campground?
1.) on the campground grill
2.) on a camp stove
3.) over a campfire
4.) on a portable charcoal grill
5.) on a portable propane grill
6.) with Dutch ovens
7.) other

It just ain’t campin’ if you don’t something on the campfire!! We don’t always look forward to roasting hot dogs, but we LOVE HOBOS!! We get a big fire going to get those great coals. And don’t for get the Reynolds Heavy Duty aluminum foil. I also use welding gloves to turn them (they’re cheap at Big Lots). When we prepare our meat we make the pieces bite size so they cook faster - we’ll make small meatballs instead of a hamburger patty, chunk up chicken, pork or beef, or one of my favorites, polish kielbasa cut up into bite sizes. We also like to try different combinations/variations of vegetables too. Again my favorite is some ground chuck meatballs and kielbasa, sliced potatoes w/skins on, some corn cut off the cob, some presliced carrots (a Super Walmart is only 15 minutes away from where we camp), some onion, and some cabbage. When they are done we just open them up and use the foil like our plates - season to taste and my special topping - cottage cheese - I know it might not sound or look good, but I swear adding some cottage cheese to a cooked hobo makes it a Heavenly Hobo!! I agree with David too - it’s as much fun to cook as it is to eat. Our whole family chooses and makes their own hobos. My kids have a blast making and eating them. My problem now is it’s only Monday!! Have a GREAT week!!
Hi! I love camping and a couple of years ago I got a family starter package in a box ,that’s even better than the one Dick’s is offering now. This is what we got in our Package and I’m looking for another one. I got the box that contained a coleman tent for three people. two sleeping bags, a latern, two coleman jugs for drink or water. a camping knife, a carry cooler for drinks, snacks for hiking, a flash light.tent light. The matress and pump we bought at Target on sale. We got more for our money. We got a nice coleman twin propane stove on sale at Target’s. Mary
When we camp I do 99% of the cooking. I use the fireplace, a two burner coleman and a portable coleman propane grill. I do cakes in my dutch oven, as well as stews. Food tastes better camping that’s why I have to walk around the CG so much in order not to gain weight….
My cooking depends on what I’m doing on the camping trip, If it’s just lazing around the campsite I love the campfire. Since most of my camping is just a cheap place to stay while exploring an area, using the tent as a base camp, I’ve got a small propane grill and stove that I do my cooking on. I’ve got an eleven pound propane tank that doesn’t take up as much room as the 20 pound full-sized grill tanks and a 5 pounder I take if it’s just my wife and I.
