Boy Scouts of America
Are you interested in scouting for your kids? Since 1910, the Boy Scouts of America have been training boys and girls to be active and responsible young adults. The scouts involve kids in lots of camping and outdoor activities. Scouting programs are broken into several age groups. Choose accordingly:Cub Scouts - a family program for boys in the first through fifth grades (or ages 7, 8, 9, or 10).
Boy Scouts - Boy Scouting is available to boys who have earned the Arrow of Light Award or have completed the fifth grade, or who are 11 through 17 years old.
Venturing - a youth development program of the Boy Scouts of America for young men and women who are between the ages of 14 and 21.
Varsity Scouting - a program for young men who are at least 14 years of age but not yet 18 who are looking for rugged high adventure or challenging sporting activities.
National Eagle Scouts - a fellowship of men who have achieved the Eagle Scout rank and who desire using their efforts and influence toward forming the kind of young men America needs for leadership.

The Boy Scouts of America offers leadership skills to young men and the opportunity to have abundant fun in the outdoors. Thanks for including this organization in your forum.
David,
As Morncrow stated thank you for including the BSA in your forum. I would also point out that the Girl Scouts of America are just as wonderful. As a former Cub/Boy Scout and a current Scout leader for the past 6 years, I will say that both of these are great programs that continue to produce excellent leaders in our communities. The things and places that Scouts get to see and do are things they will remember for a lifetime. It is truly a shame that more people will not give their children this opportunity.
If I may, I would like to correct a couple of facts that you have given. Cub Scouts can begin in 1st grade or age 6, not age 7. In fact, there is a pilot program in some parts of the country that are allowing Cubs at the age of 5. Also, Boy Scouts have until their 18th birthday to complete their Eagle Scout award. After the age of 18 they can become junior leaders in their Troop and then at 21 become adult leaders.
Once again, thank you for mentioning these programs to the thousands that read your forum.
I recieved TWO extra stripes as enlisted to the United States Air Force for my eagle.
Eagles soar above the ranks.
