Finding the Perfect Campground

Wednesday March 4, 2009
Carrie, one of my newsletter readers, said she'd been meaning to ask this for a long time: "Is there any Web site or link (I'm a techno-idiot) where someone can look up a campsite map - like a diagram of the spots, per campground?"

Carrie liked my reply and said:

"The links you sent are perfect, and exactly what we needed to point us in the right direction. Hopefully you can post your advice and the Web links on a future newsletter, to help out all the other poor helpless campers like us."
Here is the advice she wanted me to share:

Some state park Web sites have campground maps showing the individual sites. You'll have to check each park to see if they give that detail. (State Parks) Some private campground Web sites also show campsite layouts. Again, you'll have to check each site, since these are individually owned in most cases. Another good place to check is Reserve America. For other public campgrounds, Recreation.gov shows campsite locations when you click on "Book Now" to reserve a site. Bottom line, there is no one place to show you everything you may need to know. The Internet is still growing, and it doesn't totally reflect reality yet.
