Are You Camping Memorial Day?
Friday May 1, 2009
The weather sure has been beautiful around northern Kentucky this spring. Great for camping or doing anything outdoors. The kids are still in school, but Memorial Day weekend will soon be here. I know many families are planning their first big campout for this weekend, which is typically known as the beginning of the summer camping season. Let's hope good camping weather abounds.

Yes, i will be camping on Memorial day weekend. I do my best to camp out every chance i get. I will be camping at Lake Whitney, Tx, where i just happen to have a small lot, and i am sure it will be packed as usual. Lake whitney is a fun place to camp, fish and just do water recreation. Just south of DFW, we always get a lot of visitors on holidays. See you there.
I NEVER camp on holiday weekends and try to avoid weekends in general! It’s just too darn crowded. I like to plan my camping from Sunday afternoon to Wednesday or Thursday, if possible. It’s much more peaceful and quiet.
I will not be camping that weekend. With the cost of fuel and the economy the way it is I would think that the campgrounds would stop their holiday weekend extra charges($10/$20)
I personaly think its going to be a poor year for campgrds especially for motor home traffic
Unles you do a lot of camping, renting is becoming a better deal.
I camp in State parks, and they do require a reservation. However, it’s still too cold for me on Cape Cod, where I camp. I also don’t like weekends and especially holiday weekends. But, fortunately for me, I am moving to the Cape this month, and will be camping in my own back yard permanently.
I have been camping memorial weekend for about six years. The first time we waited to the week of memorial weekend to call about a site . We were lucky. Now we call in advance in order to get the site we want. We usually camp at Little River memorial weekend.
It usually a little cool but we learned how to pack for the weather.
We didn’t camp - but made sure we visited the cemetery because that is why we observe Memorial Day - to honor those that have died in service to our country.
