How long are your camping trips?

Friday March 21, 2008
In the summer, most of my camping trips are 1-nighters during the week when campgrounds are less crowded. However, every fall I go on a 3-week trip.

How long are your camping trips?
1.) 1 or 2 days
2.) 3 to 6 days
3.) a week or longer

We sold our house three years ago. Purchased a 40 ft. quad-slide Motorhome and we are really enjoying THE GOOD LIFE. I also enjoy reading your weekly email on camping.about.com.

We plan our camping trips during the winter and have a minimum stay of four nights per trip. Most of our outings are for at least a week or more. We enjoy camping very much.

We have a permanent sitein a campground near Lake Champlain in NY. We stay from May 1 to Oct 1 and enjoy every minute of it. We hate to go home to the small town with nothing going on!

I still work for a living, so needless to say my trips are weekends. My camper stays at the resort, and I have no way of towing it. So every summer we spend 1 week in the camper and 1 week on vacation in a motel somewhere.

We are square dancers so we camp every month from May thru Oct. Sometimes twice a month. We go from 3-5 days. All but 1 or 2 trips are square dance weekends…

We live in South Florida and camp about once a month, our trips are weekend trips about 1 1/2 hours away. Once a year we do a road trip camping along the way for a couple, three weeks or so. With gas pricing going up & up I think we’ll skip the road trip this year and camp in Florida for vacation this year. Our State Parks are wonderful check them out www.floridastateparks.org.

Although most of our trips are two days, we take one or two long trips a year — six weeks on the beach with a week going and coming with one or two day stops along the way.

The family & I did a lot of tent camping when the kids were small. Then there was a long break. About 10 years ago I bought a pop up camper to the tune of $5,000 plus. Wouldn’t ya know it..the wife decided she didn’t want to camp with me anymore. So now I go by myself & commune with the Lord & nature. Sometimes my son joins me & we do guitar & singing. C’mon warm weather. :~)
