Common Sense Camping

Thursday January 25, 2007
Reservations - Be aware of the potential problems when you make reservations at a campground that you have never visited before. Reservations get lost, campgrounds over-book and fill up, and campers don't ask the right questions. You may travel long distances only to find out that you have no campsite or one without hookups. If you must make reservations, be sure to get a confirmation over the phone or in an email, and get all necessary information while on the phone. Ask about their cancellation and refund policy, check-in times, and visitor rules before you get to the campground. If you are an RVer, make sure you have a reservation for a site with hookups. If you are a tent camper, ask to reserve a site away from RVs.
