Portable Power

Tuesday October 30, 2007
People may go camping to escape the routines of city life, but more and more of that city life is coming along on backpacking, camping and hiking trips than ever before. Portable electronics keep getting smaller, and you need no more than a shirt pocket to carry a cellphone, digital camera, GPS or iPod. The only problem is power, but that has been solved with a handy little solar charger that is compact, lightweight and versatile. It's the Solio, check it out:

Solio Universal Hybrid Portable Solar ChargerSolio Universal Hybrid Portable Solar Charger - This is another piece of electronic gear that I've purchased to take on camping and fishing trips. I have several electronic toys that are rechargable, but I hate when the batteries run dead while away from a power source. Now there's a universal solar charger that can meet the power needs of most portable electronics. The Solio charges anything that uses a USB connection, most cell phones, and other electronics that use standard connections. MSRP: $100
