Ohio State Parks are among the finest in the nation and were recently honored to be the recipient of the first ever Gold Medal Award for parks and recreation excellence. The state park system is very popular and offers diverse outdoor recreational opportunities besides being among the few park systems in the nation that don't charge for day-use of the facilities.
My wife and I have had many opportunities to camp at Ohio's Delaware State Park with family. Now I've only Ohio camped here and at Hueston Woods, and both of these are exemplary parks. I attribute the success of these parks mostly to the kind staff who make you feel right at home, besides cleaning up for campers, grooming the grounds, and pointing you to the best fishing holes. My wife, on the other hand, grew up in Ohio and she has camped at many more state parks than I. She says that she never had a bad camping trip while growing up.
