With the aid of Web technology, outdoor travelers are able to preview destinations online by visiting sites that display images via Web cams. The current technique is to have a camera focused on some outdoor scene with automated software that takes photos or videos and then uploads these images periodically to a Web page. With increasing bandwidths and CPU speeds, streaming video will some day take over. For now, most outdoor Web cams refresh every few minutes and some refresh every few seconds, while a few are already streaming video. With a fast Internet connection and a fast PC you too will be ready for viewing streaming video, but you can view most Web cam sites with an average PC.
