- Question:
We are planning a trip to Myrtle Beach this summer (August) and looking for a camground (state park) near the ocean at low cost. But we have to choose between Myrtle Beach State Park and Huntington Beach State Park. Could you please tell me which one is the best?
Do you have any recommendations for us, like an early reservation for a better site?
- Answer:
Since I haven't camped in Myrtle Beach myself, I went to the newsgroups to see what others had to say. After reading over 50 posts about campground preferences, I concluded that Huntington Beach is where I would go. Both the state park campgrounds are south of town, have nice amenities, are on the beach, and are cheaper than private campgrounds. Myrtle Beach SP is near the airport and at times has lots of air traffic noise, whereas, Huntington Beach SP is further south and doesn't have this problem. Also, Huntington Beach is less crowded.

Reservations can be made up to 11 months in advance. I suggest you make them as soon as possible! Click here for Reservation Info
Hope that helps!
