Camping Questions and Answers

Question:

My family and I are planning to go camping in Yosemite Valley this June. If you have been camping in Yosemite, great! If not maybe you know where I can get some info on it since the NPS website has not been put back up yet.

We have no idea which campground is the best out of Upper Pines, Lower Pines, and North Pines campgrounds. We enjoy nature more than groups of noisy neighbors. Which campground is the most secluded, meaning it has the most space between campsites or backs up into forest (not another campsite), etc.? I understand it will be crowded, but any little bit helps. Thank you for your time, even if you do not have an answer.

Answer:

My camping experience in Yosemite Valley goes back over 20 years when I camped in one of the tent cabins in the village, and it was crowded and noisy. Not what one would call a wilderness experience. But I knew it would be crowded and still had a wonderful time. I've also camped in national forest campgrounds surrounding Yosemite and found total isolation.

For recent information about these campgrounds, check out these Web sites:

Yosemite National Park Campgrounds

Please note: The National Park Reservations Service for Yosemite is currently taking campsite reservations five months in advance. The toll-free reservation number is 800-436-7275.

I hope you find all the information that you need.
