Travelogue - from the Hills to the Beach

Dateline: 09/15/98

Surf's Up!

trip photo Last night we ate dinner at the Cafe Atlantic, which serves my favorite island dish, grilled tuna. Christi had a baked flounder that was delicious too. This is another of the fine Ocracoke restaurants, and they have great home made bread, soups, and desserts. This morning all I remembered was coming back to the campground totally stuffed and heading straight to bed.

We certainly needed a good night's rest, because the waves were awesome today. The whole campground gang spent a couple hours riding boogie boards and body surfing. We knew something was up this morning, for as we headed into town for breakfast we saw kids running over the dunes with surf boards. Truly a sign that the surf's up.

Until tomorrow ...
