Travelogue - from the Hills to the Beach

This rainbow greeted us as we entered the Pony Restaurant for breakfast today. Rain clouds were rolling in and just as happened last year, rain visited us the day that Fred and I had set aside to play guitars; but that presented no problem, because we had the roominess of the camper in which to relax out of the weather and pick some tunes. Fred, who's quite a talented guitar player, also had tales to tell of his adventures at this year's Philly Folk Festival, a classic camping/music event where, besides the great stage performances, you can listen to musicians playing tunes around campfires all night long, or, as Fred did, join right in.![]() Tonight the gang gathered at the Back Porch Restaurant for Mark's traditional birthday bash. The Back Porch is another fine example of the restaurants in Ocracoke that serves up unique, home-made recipes and goodies. ![]() The festivities began with champagne on the porch. ![]() Then proceeded to our table where we found party favors, which we play with while ordering and drive the waitress nuts, but she handled us well and we soon settled down, sorta. After ordering, we were all treated to Mark's ritual poetry reading (right). The food soon came and we all stuffed ourselves most satisfactorily, before heading back to the campground to get a good night's sleep. Until tomorrow ... David
