I happened upon this campground in 1982 after having finished working the summer season in
Mount Rainier National Park.
I had a couple weeks before having to report to my next job, so I decided to check out the San
Juan Islands that I'd heard so much about while working at Mount Rainier. The smell of salt air
from the ferry ride across Puget Sound to Friday Harbor was soon replaced by the aroma of pine
needles as I neared the campground. Good weather and few campers offered three days of truly
peaceful wanderings around this marvelous place.
