| Farmington, New Mexico Outdoor guide to the Four Corners "In the heart of America's beautiful Southwest, Farmington, New Mexico is surrounded by world class cultural treasures and magnificent landscapes." In the summer of 1987 I had occasion to travel from Arizona back home to Kentucky and decided once I reached Gallup I would abandon the interstates and travel state roads. I headed north on route 666 and I never forgot the spectacular scenery that soon greeted me. In the distance was Shiprock Pinnacle, some 80+ miles away. Turning right on route 64 I stopped for lunch and gas in Farmington before heading north on route 170 to Durango and then east on route 160. A most scenic route. The Farmington Visitors and Convention Bureau has a great Web site with magnificent photos on every page, it's easy to navigate and it has detailed information for anyone wishing to experience the true enchantment that the Four Corners area has to offer the traveler. You'll be enchanted too . . . Visit the Farmington Convention and Visitors Bureau Web page
