Camping and Diving

My wife and I just returned from a three day scuba diving trip to Florida. We spent the first two days at Vortex Spring in Ponce de Leon, where we became certified, then went to the Gulf to dive the Miss Louise wreck from aboard the Sea Cobra.

The springs were beautiful and had a nice campground right next to the dive center. The water was a bit cold, and loaded with all kinds of fish that swam right up to you. The Gulf was another story. Seas were a bit rough, there was a strong surface current and visibility was only ten feet, but I managed to make my first ocean dive in spite of the dire circumstances, thanks to my great teachers, diving buddies, and crew of the Sea Cobra.

If you like combining camping and diving, Florida is the state to head for. There are facilities that cater to both enthusiasts, and Melissa Rodriguez has the scuba expertise to help you plan and enjoy your underwater adventures in Florida and elsewhere.
