Waterton-Glacier
International Peace Park

Joined in 1932, Glacier National Park in Montana and Waterton Lakes National Park in Alberta became the first park of it's kind to represent the mutual efforts of two countries to preserve the diverse and pristine ecosystem spanning their borders.

Designated in 1995 as a World Heritage Site and acknowledged as "an exceptional area recognized throughout the world for its incredible biological diversity and majestic natural beauty", the International Peace Park joined the ranks of the world's most majestic wonders. The World Heritage committee is concerned with preserving the cultural and natural heritage of the world, as symbolized in their emblem where "the central square is a form created by man and the circle represents nature, the two being intimately linked." (Click on the emblem to visit the World Heritage site.)
