Delaware State Park
The trip to Delaware State Park was most enjoyable. It's only a three hour drive for us to the park. I arrived early afternoon on Thursday which was a great time get there. Ohio's State Parks are very popular on weekends and tend to fill up by Friday. Delaware has shaded sites and some out in the open. I prefer a shaded site and getting there ahead of the crowd on Thursday offered many choices. That's our campsite in the photos.
Our Coleman popup camper served us well again this year. One person can set it up in 15 minutes. I like the added conveniences it offers above tent camping, and I sleep well in it too. The first night there I got 14 hours of restful sleep. But that's Delaware, it's a family park, well maintained, clean and spacious.
The weather was great this year with warm days, cool nights and no rain. Fishing wasn't so hot though, as the crappie were out in deep water with the cool weather and no other keepers being caught at shore. So I took advantage of the peace, played some guitar, read a little, and took some quiet afternoon naps. Though we didn't have a fish fry, we still managed to feast every night around the family picnic table. There's nothing like a restful camping trip to replenish some peace of mind.
