Campground Review and Description:
Description:
Watch out, the Maui county campground parks are full of homeless people! We just came back from our trip in February 2012. They made us pay a high permit fee and we couldn't even stay there because it was full of homeless people. We went to a campground in Haleakala state park instead and later moved to Hana, these two were great and I would recommend staying there.
Pros, Cons, Attractions and Additional Comments:
Pros: Right on the beach and right next to the airport.
Cons: Full of homeless people!
Rating: 1

From Maui County Parks: "Beautiful, Kanahâ Beach Park rests on a peaceful coastal expanse between Kahului Bay and Spreckelsville Beach. Breathtaking views of the West Maui Mountains and ‘Îao Valley await visitors. A swim, a picnic in the shade of the tall trees flanking the beach, or a game of beach volleyball can be enjoyed as well.
"Lae’ula O Kai Canoe Club’s headquarters is maintained at the beachfront pavilion, and windsurfers often make good use of Kanahâ’s favorable offshore breezes. Street signs along Amala Place point the way. The beach is within walking distance of Kahului Airport and easily accessible from Hâna Highway 36 with ample parking available."
