Description:
Traveling in 40-foott RV with another couple, hoping to hit all state campgrounds in the next 2 months!
Pros, Cons, Attractions and Additional Comments:
Pros: Great hiking trails and tour of the Old Lee Ranch House. A little windy, but the park filled each night and they told us reservations needed usually in March and April.
Cons: They call themselves volunteers, but they are really work-campers receiving space, electricity, water and sewer free. I never saw them work and the showers and rest room could have used some extra work. The spaces could have been more level

Oliver Lee Memorial State Park: "Oliver Lee State Park has history, an amazing diversity of desert plants, flowing water and the plants and animals associated with it, and a great hike into the Lincoln National Forest. While this campground is probably quite hot in the summertime, most any other time would be an excellent time to visit.
"One of the reasons to visit this campground is because of the plants. Cactus such as this Turk's head bloom in the campground. Additionally, the park has a garden where a wide selection of identified native plants grow. Note that the cactus in the park and the nearby national forest are protected and must be enjoyed on-site. In addition to the diversity of plants, we also saw many species of birds. "
