Campground Review

Lake Irwin Campground is located ~ 9miles from Crested Butte, at the beginning of Kebler Pass. My daughter and I like to car camp there early summer or late fall. (Just haven't gotten around to the middle of summer time.) Early summer we go the second week of July (early summer for Crested Butte!) which is the week of the annual Wild Flower Festival. The hiking and mountain biking are spectacular through fields of wild flowers. During the fall, we like to be there during the changes of the Aspen leaves. The campground itself sits alongside Lake Irwin, which is manmade. People do fish (we don't). There are fire pits at each campsite, which vary in size. There are clean pit toilets. The husband and wife team which have been hosts at this campground for ~ 10 years are very friendly and are helpful with everything from firewood, starting a fire, or knowing where the best hikes/biking trails are.
