Campground Review

This was the first campground that we camped at and it was such a blast that we have continued camping and plan to return to Cunningham Falls this year. The campground is nestled in the Catacton Mountains, home of the presidential retreat, Camp David. The sites are large and shaded. There is a huge recycled tire playground for the kids and a petting zoo across the highway which includes animals such as bear, deer, tortoises, alligators, etc. and even camel rides for the kids. There is also a 40 acre lake at the campground for swimming, canoeing, and for small non-motorized boats. Fishing streams run through the campground and are near the campsites, there are hiking trails for every level hiker with a simple trail to the breath-taking falls. Next door to the park is Catacton Mountain State Park which offers more hiking, but it is only a day park. The camp store is well stocked and what they are lacking can be found nearby in the small town of Thurmont. The campground rates are also a good bargain!
