Campground Review
This State Park Offers outstanding hiking through old-growth forest, towering hemlocks and oaks, some trees are 300 years old! A springtime hike near the fire tower is spectacular when mountain laurel are in bloom. Along with the hiking there is horse-back riding nearby, and canoe rentals for trips down the Clarion River. Spring is best as water levels can get low during the summer. The Ridge Campground is located within the state park. The sites are mostly shaded and fairly spacious. Sites on the back loop are spread out more, but they have no electricity. Flush toilets are avalible with showers. There are also some nice privite campgrounds in the area.

Camping at Cooks Forest State ParkJuly 25, 2009By mjdewalt1
"Pros - Cook Forest State Park is a beautiful campground to stay in. Very heavily wooded, which is good. We bring a portable gray water tank, so no sewer hook-up isn't a big deal. Great hiking trails very near the park. No swimming pool, but the Sawmill complex nearby has a public one that's very cheap and they have live theatre productions nearly every weekend in the summer. Cons - PA state parks are really starting to get expensive for what you get. Being that they don't have a lot on the campgrounds for kids to do and they don't have water and sewer available at site, you would think the price would not be that high. In 2007, the prices were very reasonable, in '08 they took a SIGNIFICANT jump. If that were not enough, in '09 they took another BIG jump. The extra charges for ""showers"" and other things charges like that, even though you don't use those amenities, are becoming ridiculous"
