I was there in August 2000, and I found this campground searching the Internet.
Campground Review
The campground is high on the hill of an old fort, there are still some remains of the fort left. The tent sites are open and grassy, but we were in the back. Our view behind the tent (down a hill) was the ocean, to the right was open fields, then ocean and in front of our tent on the opposite side of the campground (5 minutes walk) is a salt marsh with trails. It has beaches and a pavilion, and it is real close to other beaches and state parks. We camped here thinking we wanted to go to Newport. We really didn't need to leave the campground. You do need to reserve a month in advance. There are a lot of people camping here. The fourth side of the tent is the mobile homes area, and beyond that more marsh and a boat ramp.
