We were there in September 2000 and March 2001. This campground is within 100 miles of my home. We usually backpack from Cedar Grove (about 30 miles and 2000 feet farther up), but this time took the kids and needed a place to camp with them!

Campground Review

This is a great campsite for families! There are over 100 sites (sorry, none with hook-ups!), but they DO have flush toilets, nightly ranger programs, and horseback riding! A grocery store and showers are located within walking distance of the campground. There are also a number of tent-only sites for those who like to "rough-it" (like us!) One draw-back is bears, but this campground does provide bear-proof food boxes! A nice site for families who don't want the total "wilderness" experience! An added bonus is Hume Lake, within 10 miles, and Kings Canyon, within 30 miles!
