Campground Review

For those that prefer slightly more rustic camping, John Bryan is among the very best of the Ohio State Parks. Though it lacks showers and flush toilets, the campground is in a grove of widely spaced, enormous and majestic trees. The trees offer ample shade while not choking out all the grass. Only a few sites have electric and the campground attracts a larger than usual proportion of tent campers. The park itself offers hiking and I especially recommend hikes in the adjacent Clifton Gorge Nature Preserve.

"Overall a good rustic camp site. The drinking water taps are a bit sparse but latrines are plentiful. Whole camp is dog friendly so watch where you step when investigating your site. Wonderful well kept trails go for miles into adjoining parks. Make sure all your foodstuffs are safely secured once night begins to fall, the place is overrun with raccoons that are not afraid to go right up to your picnic table and eat while your sitting only an arms length away."
