I found this campground in Woodall's, and I was there in May 1999.

Campground Review

There are four different campgrounds at Kanopolis; three of the four charge 15 bucks a night, so being the thrifty campers that we are we opted to camp at "Horse Thief Canyon." The spot we picked overlooked the whole lake. We sat on top of natural sandstone cliffs that generations had carved their names into. It seemed we had the entire area to ourselves, while all the other campers were smooched into "structured" campsites. It was beautiful. Every morning new pieces of driftwood would appear at the base of the cliff, and every morning we would collect the wood and dry it out for our fire wood. It was great.
