I know of this campground because I was born and raised in Perrysville and return often to hike, fish and camp. I was there in May 2001.
Campground Review
Pleasant Hill Lake Park is anchored by a 950 acre, unlimited horsepower lake. There are several different types of amenities available. There is a large, public boat launch that is continuously being upgraded and is now one of the best in the state. A small marina with gasoline, bait, minor repair services and snacks is available. Boat and Jet Ski rentals are also available. Camping is equally well set up with various types of sites to choose from (full or electric hook-up). The park also has housekeeping cabins available for rent that sleep 6 adults. On this trip my family and I stayed in one of the cabins. The park was running a great deal on cabin rentals and probably does so regularly in the off season ($55/night this trip.) The cabins are fairly old, but clean and well kept. There is a rumor that next year the park will build all new cabins. Between Memorial Day and Labor Day the park also operates a public beach. The Park also has several major Beach Parties through the summer, including Christmas in July with a skiing Santa Claus, fireworks and decorated campsites. The campgrounds are well kept and the bathhouses are kept clean.
Nearby you can find Mohican State Park, Mohican State Forest and Malabar State Farm with plenty of hiking and picnic facilities. Mohican State Park also boasts a working covered bridge. Canoeing and horseback riding are readily available. Amish Country is a short, 30 minute drive away. In the winter you can find 2 ski resorts nearby. I may be a little biased since I grew up here, but after visiting most of Ohio State Park areas, I can truthfully say that this park area is in the top 3 for the state.
