I found out about this campground on the Internet, and I tent camped there in September 2008.
Describe your camping trip:
We stayed at Lake Henshaw Resort in mid September 2008. The experience was less than enjoyable. In fact it was down right disappointing. The website says there is \"A sparkling pool and spa, a children's playground, grocery store and ice, clubhouse and laundry facilities complete the amenities.\" The truth is the campsite is nestled at the foot of a hill side overlooking Lake Henshaw. That all sound's great however, it is co-located with a trailer park that the Web site conveniently describes as \"Permanent Residents.\" The playground consists of a rusty old swing set that your children are sure to be in need of tetanus shots, if they decide to play on it. The sparkling pool is a run down facility that I wouldn't let my dog swim in. I can't speak of the facilities, because I was too afraid to use them. The lake was the most disappointing of them all. The Web site does say that there is no swimming, but I was under the impression that it was a reservoir or fish reserve. Fishing is allowed and you can rent boats, but I would strongly advise against it. Not because the boat rentals are expensive or because the fishing is bad, but because the lake looks like a toxic dump. The smell is horrendous, and the state of the water is shocking. I know what algae is and this was NOT algae. The water had the consistency of oil or sludge, however it was bright green. Admittedly the campsites themselves were good. There was open space, and we pretty much had our pick of campsites (probably because we were the only suckers to stay at the resort).
Pros: The weather was nice. There were plenty of campsites to choose from.
Cons: Too much to write.

Further comments: My overall advice would be to keep driving. We saw plenty of other campsites on the map around this one. We picked it, because the Web site was deceiving. We will never go back again.
