JBJ - My husband and I found this campground about 12 years ago when visiting the Blue Ridge Parkway. We camped there in July 2001.

Campground Review

This is my very favorite place to go and is right on the Blue Ridge Parkway outside Blowing Rock, NC. It is so peaceful. Go in late June/early July and the Rhododendrons are beautiful. They are everywhere. Tent sites are wooded and not crowded up on each other, so you have privacy. No problem getting a space even on holiday weekends and tent sites are only $12. No showers, so we usually stay just two nights. Great hiking trails nearby. Lovely wooded one around Price Lake. Another open one around Bass Lake is not far away either. Canoes and rowboats can be rented at Price Lake. If you want more excitement, Tweetsie Railroad amusement park is in Blowing Rock. Outdoor drama about Daniel Boone called Horn in the West plays in the next town, Boone, during the summer. Blowing Rock is a quaint little village. Fun to browse the shops, kids will like the park in the center of town. We always go in one morning and have breakfast at the Blowing Rock Cafe. Fantastic strawberry muffins, huge fluffy pancakes and our favorite, a mountain of eggs, cheese, potatoes and veggies all mixed together. This campground will always be our favorite place to go. It restores my soul just being there.
