Kim - We Actually stayed at the state park, but while we were there we found the national park that was right up the street. We camped there in August 2001.

Campground Review

This campground was very clean and orderly and had very secluded campsites. The campsites are not crowded together and dumpy. They even have walk-to campsites that are very nice. They are so close to a lot of destinations. There is so much to do there. The Sand Dunes themselves were fascinating. We climbed Mt. Baldy, a 160 ft. sand dune. It was only a few minutes drive to Michigan City and it was only about 40 minutes to Notre Dame College, which we also visited. It was a 50 minute drive to Chicago which also has so many wonderful and educational sites there. There is also a train you can take to the different cities and sites, if you would rather not drive. I loved this place. Just wonderful.
