C. Alan - I discovered this campground through friends that tent camp often, and I camped there in July 2001.
Campground Review
This park is great! The campsites are huge and offer privacy unlike many campgrounds that tend to "stack" you almost on top of each other. A few of the sites on the northeast part of the grounds overlook the lake and in the distance you can see the dam which is about 10 miles across the lake. Beautiful! The shower house and restrooms are spotless. There is also an on-site laundry facility for the "long-term" camper (and it's cheap). About two miles away is a local, small town store with everything you might need. There are multiple boat docks and ramps within walking distance, as well as a swimming beach. The area used to be part of the Underground Railroad, with a museum (also within walking distance) detailing the historical events and people of the area. Corps of Engineers Rangers can be seen in the area daily checking to see that all are having a nice time! Park attendants (Ben and Millie) are exceptional hosts. This is a well landscaped area and a true "paradise" as far as camping goes. I've yet to find another place that will match the quality of this one. I'm not too sure that Cedar Ridge in Bloomington Park can be topped!
