Cynthia - I found this campground by an Internet search, and I camped there in April 2002.
Campground Review
This was a very nice campground surrounded by lush tropical plants. A small pond with a swan and many other water birds is located in the campground. There is a also an aviary with lots of exotic birds and lemurs. There are lots of different sites for all types of camping. The bathhouses are very clean. There is a laundry located in the heart of the campground. It is also located just a 10 minute walk from the beach.
The island has 20 miles of bicycle paths, a wildlife refuge, a nice pier, and the best shelling in the U.S. We also went to Tarpon Bay for a canoe trip through the mangroves. We saw manatees up close and personal! It was a wonderful place for a vacation.
