Lisa - I have been going to this campground for years, and I camped there in June 2001.

Campground Review

This campground (in Lava Beds National Monument) is known for the nearby caves that you can go hiking in. There are probably over 100 caves in the area. There is also a beautiful lake, Medicine Lake, which also has a nice campground with a lot of trees. The campground at Lava Beds is pretty much out in the open. There are a lot of shrubs and some trees, but the nights are beautiful. And there is this place called Captain Jack's Stronghold, which is a hiking trail. The people who work in the park are very friendly and give you tons of information about the Modoc Indians that once lived in the area.
