Tom and Viola - We found this campground when we stopped at a convenience store in West Point, MS and asked the owner who directed us to the campground. This was after he called the campground to make sure they were open. We camped there in January 2003.

Campground Review

The campground host waited 30 minutes after closing for us to arrive. He was very gracious in registering us and giving us a spot right on the river. A beautiful site too. What a surprise we had when we heard a strange motor noise we couldn't place. Now we have camped near major highways, near airports, and railroad tracks, but this strange noise was a pure delight. Coming up the river was a tugboat pushing two barges. Something we have never experienced this close up. What a pleasant surprise to see a tugboat! But wait, in the next two hours, two more tugs came up the river. The best part was that the tugboat motors were at a tone and pitch that it was actually pleasant to stand there on the bank and listen to them until they were out of sight. We only stayed the night, but intend to make this campground our place to stay the next time we are in the area. We heard that the fishing is great here too. We have now enjoyed camping almost everywhere.
