Lorie - I heard about this campground at a rest area, and I RV camped there in May 2003.

Campground Review

This campground is great because of its closeness to the ocean, ruins to explore, a neat gift shop, the history behind the buildings, and the peace and tranquility of the campground. It is also close to Myrtle Beach and Brookgreen Gardens where Anna Hyatt Huntington's sculptures are displayed. Also the Park Rangers have interesting and educational programs for children and families to experience.

We spent 2 weeks here in September 09. It was beautiful. The weather this time of year is great - 90's and 80's with no rain. And the area isn't crowded because it is off season. The state park has a very long stretch of undeveloped beach front, so you are far away from all the high rises of Myrtle Beach. MB is a 20 minute drive north of here. Murrell's Inlet is just north of the state park and is a great place to go walk or eat. The causeway has all kinds of wildlife including alligators which my son loved. The park programs are great as well. The park staff is friendly and keep the park and facilities very clean. We stayed in Site 23. It was nice because part of the site was shaded and we always had a breeze from the ocean. It was a short walk to the beach and the washrooms were close by. I would recommend this park to anyone.
