(NCcamper - I was looking for parks in the mountains and came across references to this on the Internet. I tent camped there in May 2003.
Campground Review
I think this is a great campground because there is a lot to do here. There are miles and miles of mountain biking trails. There is a stocked fishing lake with lots of brook, brown, and rainbow trout. You'll need a license and trout stamp. You can swim in the lake, and there are miles of hiking trails. The campground is located in a national forest. The French Broad River is located nearby, and all the other stuff to do in/near Asheville. This campground is probably second to the Davidson River campground located about 30 minutes away.
