Annie - I found this campground through Woodall's, and I RV camped there in May 2003.
Campground Review
The location of this campground is one of its biggest assets. It has everything a camp location should: away from the busy city, yet only a few miles to restaurants, grocery stores, etc. The mountain location and wonderful creek is a gorgeous setting. Lightner Creek is small enough to make friends of all occupants, yet large enough to accommodate all camping needs. This campground has a laundry, sparkling clean restrooms, game room, pool, and a nice office/store that is open until 9 p.m. I especially loved the paved roads throughout the campground, which means no dust and dirt everywhere. The camp hosts and owners are a valuable font of information for things to see and do and make sure you have the proper directions.
We looked at several campgrounds in Durango and couldn't figure out why anyone would want to stay on busy roads, industrial areas, etc. when Lightner Creek was so perfect. We liked it there so much, we had reserved 3 days and stayed 7!
