Chris - I found out about this campground in a Good Sam Highways magazine article, and I RV camped there in August 2003.
Campground Review
DeSoto State Park is a quite secluded campground tucked away in the north Alabama mountains. Our site was slightly on a hill and very secluded. The bathhouses were always clean and orderly. Activities abound in nearby Ft. Payne, Scottsboro, and Little River Canyon. We were there during the world's longest yard sale held along the state highway leading to the campground. There are several non-strenuous hiking trails that take you to waterfalls, an old rock quarry (used to build the campground buildings), and wildlife. We saw several deer during our visit. We plan to return!
