Donna - I found out about this campground on the Internet, and I camped there in February 2004.

Campground Review

This is one of the best campgrounds in the area. It's right in the middle of the Ocala National Forest. You will love this site if you are into nature. I've seen many types of wildlife while staying here, so be on the lookout. The spaces are nice and clean, you can choose either primitive campsites or sites with full hookups, and both have their good points.

Make sure you take a hike while here as they have a great trail! Of course while you are there it is a must that you go take a dip in the springs. I know the water may feel a tad cold to some, but you get used to it and it does stay at 72 degrees year around. The water is crystal clear, so your viewing of the fish and an occasional glimpse of gators or manatee and otters are at its best.

I came here to camp in October 2001 and ended up moving to this wonderful area. I do enjoy the many camping spots of the forest, but have found that Salt Springs Recreation Area is one of my favorites. I hope you'll come visit my favorite spot too because I know you and your family will enjoy it as much as I do.
