Angelique - My parents purchased 25 acres of land and built this campground from scratch in the 1970s.

Campground Review

My parents sold this campground in 2000. I was 15 when we all moved to Vermont from Connecticut. Although my parents no longer own the campground I wanted to get the Rest n' Nest on this page. My parents live next door to the campground. It was very difficult for them to sell as they built it with all of their hard work. It has a man-made pond where my dad put a rim around it and painted it blue to look like a swimming pool. It's really nice looking. It also has a surrounding beach. You can camp by the pond as well. The Shriners visit every year, and they have their own private spots (last I knew). There is a huge rec-hall with pavilion that my dad made, again from scratch. It was supposed to be our house, but they turned it into a rec-hall with a full kitchen. My sister had her wedding reception there. We used to hire dance bands. So it's really huge. Downstairs is the game room, which I loved because I got to play with the campers. The hunters would stay in the hunting season.

They only sold it because it was just the two of them and the kids left, and it became too tiring for them as they are in their 70's now. My mom used to make homemade bread, donuts, and crafts to sell at the store. My dad built all of the picnic tables from scratch, and if you didn't have one because someone took one away from another site to have two, he would go into the workshop to make you one. I helped to paint them as I did before every season. There is also a children's playground. I don't know what any updates the new owners have done for this season, but I just wanted to let people know that it's out there. It's 10 minutes from Hanover, New Hampshire and Dartmouth college. There is golfing at Lake Morey Country Club. I have no vested interest in this campground other than my heart and memories. Enjoy your stay.

RUDE Campground owners, Member DoreenStoodley

My husband and I and several other families have frequented this campground for years. This year we were there in August 2012.New owners are very rude, and unaccommodating to PAYING GUESTS!!! We will never return. No exceptions to ANY rules, which would be fine if we had been treated respectfully. On the day of our departure, the female owner approached me at 1:11 pm with her large doberman to tell me I needed to leave, as the check out time was 1pm! I was laying on a blanket near the pond, and said, "" Oh, I'm sorry, I can park my car up near the office as I thought they needed the site clear(camper had left with my husband earlier). She stated if I stayed I would be charged for another day!! They certainly didn't have a problem""bending the rules"" for their friends, as we witnessed during a horse shoe tournament and for their friends that were camping also. Was I bothering anyone lying on a blanket with a girlfriend talking quietly ? If she felt we should leave could she have spoken nicely and left the dog home? I am a woman, non threatening and a polite person who simply expects to be treated the same! I would Not recommend this campground .
